Checklist for Mental Health Support. Before You Begin: A Note to Every Educator

We teachers, often measure success by lesson outcomes, test scores, and classroom management. But in the quiet moments—between the bell rings and lesson slides—our true impact often lies in how we make our students feel.

Do they feel safe?

Do they feel valued?

Do they feel emotionally supported in your presence?

The emotional climate of a classroom begins with the adult in the room. It is not about being perfect—it's about being present, aware, and committed to growing with compassion.

The following self-inventory is not a test, nor a scorecard. It is a gentle mirror—designed to help you reflect, realign, and renew your approach to emotional care in the classroom.

Take your time. Be honest. Let it guide you, not judge you.
